PO BOX 2145, Mt Isa 0419 725 089 |
Central & Northwest Queensland Sub Chamber Temporary Delegate Dianne Smith was born in Coolah, NSW and spent her childhood idyllically growing up on a variety of stations from the outback to the Hunter Valley in New South Wales. Dianne moved to Sydney at 16 to work as a Relief Typist for the NSW State Rail Authority and since then has held a variety of jobs including droving, various Administration jobs, Cashier and a stable hand. She married her husband, Tony, in 1993 and raised 4 children while being an 'army wife'. The moving every 2 or 3 years suited Dianne's mild case of wanderlust. It was during this time Dianne discovered volunteering which started by helping at the Schools her children attended. Everything from Uniform Convenor to tuckshop helper. However it wasn't until 2008 when she saw an advertisement in the Mount Isa paper "Helpers Wanted for Mount Isa Show" that she became involved in the Show. That first year she did everything from helping hang the art to sweeping the floors. She then started attending meetings in early 2009 and, after her admin background was discovered, was asked to take the Minutes. At the 2009 Dianne was nominated for the position of Treasurer for the Mount Isa Show Society, a position she still holds. In 2010 her husband decided to discharge from the Army and settle in Mount Isa, which was great news for Dianne as she had finally found a place to call home! In 2011 Dianne became the Secretary for the Central and North Western Sub Chamber and an Alternate Delegate for the Sub Chamber and has met an amazing group of people through Mount Isa Show and the Sub Chamber and can't see her future without involvement in the Show. |
